Just a quick 1 guys, im going to be replacing my brake pads next week but have no idea if the discs need to be changed.
What should i look for as a tell tale sign that the disc needs to be changed?
Cheers from a newbie

Check the thickness of the discs - you can get the minimum thicknesses from Haynes I think - also look for deep scoring or glazing on the faces of the discs and excessive corrosion and lips on the top edge of the disc faces.
Given a discs + pads kit from Vx is somewhere around the £80 mark you may want to consider getting a kit and doing the lot. That way you'll have no doubts and everything will be at a 'known condition'.
The discs should have wear indicators on them
Roughly every quarter there is a bevel on the inside edge and if it has been reached the discs have worn and need to be replaced
If you keep records of brake pad changes, then typcically you can get three sets of pads for every discs
Pads + discs, pads, pads, pad + discs, etc
Cheers for the help guys, on the basis that i have only just got the car i think im going to just change the whole lot then i know its done a ok.
Going to go for a set of these i think

Phone your local VX dealership and get a price for OE pads and discs kit
Don't bother with drilled / grooved
Equally, if you can wait a few weeks, then apply for the VX Masterfit Club; you will then receive a one-off discount voucher (Which you can use towards parts) and discount card
