    confused goodyear tyre recall

Hi people, I hope that a kind soul can answer a question for me.
The goodyear tyre recall on nct tyres 05-R-79, what was the
fault on the tyre that meant replacement was needed?
I have been told that this was due to ply seperation (de-lamination),
Has anyone got a copy of the recall notice?

    Many thanks.

It affects Goodyear Eagle NCT 5s with a code marked on the sidewall in the range 1605-2405 (mine is 1905). I guess that this is the week/year of manufacture. So I need all four tyres replaced. I range Vx customer services (01582 721122 spoke to someone called Suzanne Thompson) to get a case number but ended up just getting advice. I should have got a recall notice for this along with a recall for the oxygen sensor (what does that do and where is it?) under another recall ref. number viz. 05-P-78.

Thanks for the info, I found that thread last night after postimg, what I not been able to confirm with my local Vx dealer or Goodyear is what the actual fault on these tyres is. I replace 2 tyres prior to seeing any of these theads, now because I have disposed of the old tyres I cannot go back to Goodyear for any assistance.

Yes, that was the problem. I'm not aware of anyone having even been allowed to see the recall notice, let alone having a copy.

That's a bummer! Without the tyres you won't be able to claim back for your new ones!

Goodyear are exchanging the tyres... i.e. they have to receive the old ones back from a Vauxhall dealer.

I believe this type & size of tyre were only ever fitted to Vectra's & Signum's, therefore Goodyear did their recall via the Vauxhall dealers. You were only notified if your car was likely to have been fitted with these tyres (i.e. the dodgy batch in the middle of 2005). If you got the affected tyres elsewhere (i.e. replacements of the original tyres) they still honoured the recall - although it didn't automatically show up in their recall database for your car (unless, as I said, they were on it from new).

Do you know 100% that your tyres were in the date range? I assume you never had any issues with the tyres themselves... so all's well that ends well (assuming you had good wear out of them?).

The two tyres that I replaced were always going out of balance, when removed the wear pattern was very extreme (even for my driving) on the inner edge, with ply seperation on the sholuder. I replaced the tyres from a local tyre dealer and disposed of the old carcases accordingly.
