Default Hole in grill - MOT fail??

I had to get into the bonnet through the grill (catch failed).

Anyway ordered a new grille from FK, arrived today and...... doesn't fit!!

My plan was to wait until the new grill was here then take my car for it's MOT.

The grill not fitting has scuffered my plans for that and my Mot is due tomorrow. Don't know if this sounds stupid but I don't know, would it fail because it has 2 fist size holes in the black bit of the grill either side of the badge (it's the preface).

I've already checked the local breakers, no luck. I would rather ask on here, than go down and get it done and they just laugh at me

Only thing I could see being an issue is if it's left ragged bits that could cause more injury in the case of a pedestrian impact. If it's just a hole I can't see it being a problem.

Would only fail if you have any sharp edges that could.cause injury to others. If you do have sharp edges you could wrap the grill with duck tape covering the holes or you coul break of the sharp bits an file yhem down to blend in the edges thus removing the sharp bits!

Remove the grille...as long as it's not left sharp edges,it'll probably pass

Thanks guys, I filed it down at took it for the test... it PASSED

I had some advisories though, both front arb's slight play and both front springs corroded.

It passed with 35w 6k hid's (I did the mod that was on here with the adjusters, flicked it to number 2 before I pulled in) so i was happy about that!

It gets better on the way back i stopped at the breakers and they had another vectra!!!! walked away with the new grill for £10

Glad your sorted - makes me smile when they give an advisory saying front springs corroded - Are they saying it is so badly corroded that it may fail or that they have cosmetic surface rust - I would think the majority of cars on the road will have some corrosion on their springs. About a month before my car is due an MOT - I powerwash it underneath, let it dry and them spray it with Tetrosyl underseal - in particularly in the wheel arch areas.

Just cosmetic, I did ask about that. He said that there are more things effected by the recent changes that were brought out.

I asked about how they read the rules about hid's after, as that was what i was worring about and he said if your car has levelers and washers then they need to be tested but as I didn't have them I was ok.
