Me likey
Loved my old astra coupe turbo in blue and I want another or a gsi love the old turbo lump in them there a flyer
That looks like a nice example to be honest, and worth going to have a look.
But......... It is not a limited edition car, and no Astra convertible came from the factory with Irmscher kit. It would have been fitted by the dealer or a subsequent owner. Judging by the fact that it has all the kit, I would say it was done by the dealer when new.
The wheels are standard fitment as well, and just happen to be the same as SE2.
Nothing wrong with the above, but a good bargaining tool to "Correct" his description of the car.
Cheers Maverick, I do like it and don't think I'd stand to lose an awful lot on it if I looked after it. I do like them in red but can't currently find any nice examples in red with decent engines. I've decided I want a 2.2 or 2.0T, going on advice from here. I might go and have a look and decide. I've asked him a few things and he seems to know the car well and if what he says stacks up then it has been well looked after. So what exactly is an SE2 is it a limited run coupe model?
Says the mot runs out this month. Get a new one thrown in aswell.
Lovely car though
I've asked him a few questions and he says he will mot it. He has been upfront and said the timing chain hasn't been done but at that mileage there's no real reason why it would have been done. It has had new drop links, tyres and a few other bits. He seems to be a genuine enthusiast that is selling to fund a work van. Are there any specific questions I should be asking? I have detail about previous services and I'm going to do a history check on the MyCarCheck app that I have on my phone.
The SE and SE2 were standard cars but with 17" wheels and half leather/blue alcantara interior.
The only thing I would add on to this car your looking at, is a nice set of Irmscher 17" wheels to complete the car.
There is definitely more low mileage and better looked after 2.2's than there are turbo's at the moment.
Well I've asked a few questions and I think I'm going to have a look at it. I'll be trying to spot anything I think I can use to bargain him down although I don't think £3k is a ridiculous price it is at the top end for this car at this age. I'll turn up in my Vec making sure it looks clean and looked after as I think he would rather it go to someone who will look after it.
I don't suppose you have seen this on any other forums #Maverick?
Nope, not seen it. The main thing to check, is that the roof works perfectly well, and check the roof oil reservoir which is located on the drivers side behind the boot trim in the boot. There is a removable cover. Don't be alarmed if the oil level is a little under the marker as this is not unusual.
Every thing else is good reliable Astra G.
