    Default Z19DTH Drivesafts

Hi guys, I need the O/S driveshaft as the inner boot had split which has caused the joint to wear. I've spoke to various places (GSF, ECP, J&R) who have all told me that the driveshafts for my car are the same for each side. Even on the GSF site there is only one shaft listed for the left and right hand side.

Basically i was under the impression the O/S shaft was longer than the N/S as there is a half shaft bearing which connects it to the ge. My question is this, is it just a case of removing the old shaft from the original bearing and replacing with the new one? Or is it more complex than that?

    Thanks in advance

The o/s driveshaft goes into a bearing housing mounted to the rear of the engine i think???, i know it does on the V6 diesels, this makes both driveshafts the same. The n/s driveshaft goes directly into the g/box, ....

Thats for the speedy replies guys, so just to make it simple. The old one comes out of the housing, the new one goes in?

Sort of yes!, you will need to prize the inner CV joint o/s off/away from the bearing housing, firstly you will need release the stub axle assembly o/s/f to be able to remove the driveshaft completely....

Why not just replace the inner cv joint? Should be cheaper than the complete driveshaft.

I have also dealt with J&R and recommend them highly.
