    Default Compression Test

    HI,

    Can anyone help. I have a 2003 vectra c 1.8 16v (93000 on the clock)

For the last 3 months the car has been literally drinking oil. I have not got an oil leak anywhere, so it must be internal. The car is running perfect apart from the odd occasional slightly longer to start at random times.

I have changed the oil recently also and still the light keeps coming on. Dipstick is showing no oil also.

    Compression test shows:-
    1:-230 psi\16 bar dry
    2:-230 psi\16 bar dry
    3:- 221 psi\15 bar dry
    4:- 230 psi\ 16 bar dry

All this was done on a cold engine. Coil pack removed and the throttle valve opened same amount on all 4 cylinders. 6 cycles per cylinder.

    Can anyone help??

compression seems healthy enough , but then again the oil control rings can be knackered & still have compression but burn lots of oil .
what oil are you using ? how many miles until it uses its oil & how much do you need to put in it ?? any smoke out the exhaust when driving ?

Thanks for replays. I would have to top up 2 lt every 2 weeks however I topped up with 1lt once and the next day it was out again. I put in 5 -30 magnates but I am now topping up and using 0-40 fully sin of castrals more expensive oil which has not helped. No smoke, only the usual when car cold but I do mostly motorway driving.
i did see some carbon build up through the spark plug hole.

There is definitely a problem with my oil as I'm using to much, just don't know we're. I thought the compression results were to high in respect for that being a dry test?
    Thanks
