Default Aerial base letting water in

I noticed that the roof lining near the over head cubby/lights were wet today and given that my car is parked face-forward on a slopping drive way, I am assuming water has got in from, what looks like a perished aerial base seal.

Question 1. Does anyone have part number for the rubber seal? (GPS aerial for CD70).

Question 2. How is the roof lining removed on a signum - do I need to remove the centre seat belt (as it is located in the roof).

Question 3. Is it worth applying any silicone under the area base to prevent this kind of issue happening again?

You can't buy the rubber seal from VX, as it is part of a kit which I think costs around £30. The rubber seal for a VW Golf fits and is only about £5 on E-Bay. Sorry don't know parts nos. I changed mine and do not have any problems with it.

Ah maybe double check as mine is a standard aerial.20140508_130732.jpg. That is a pic of the one on my wifes Agila, but it is the same as the one on my Signum.

It won't fit the CD70 base.

You need a new base. Costs £lots.

    13171963 - £202.29 from Genuine Part Search.
    13254955 - £188.04 from Genuine Part Search.

No idea if either of those are the right part numbers but it's what I can find from here: http://ecat24.com/catalog/part/1/41/565/4057/41755/

    £lots.

This might be a better idea...

    http://sugru.com/guides/make-a-cooki...-rubber-gasket

Actually... the more I look at it - this Sugru stuff might actually be the best idea... http://sugru.com/about

It works like plasticene and is formable for around 30 mins, so you could form it around the aerial base, then remove it (carefully) and let it cure - or even let it cure on the aerial base. It turns into a silicone rubber when cured, so the theory goes that you could form it, leave it, then whack it straight on the car when cured. One brand new silicone rubber gasket for the aerial base.

Who's gonna give it a go - it's only 7 quid for 15g of it, or 13 quid for 40g of it.

    Default

I have a dab Ariel and used gasket maker silicone; put it under and all around the old one which was split already, and it's been good with no leaks for about a year now.
