    Default Fuel additives

    Anyone use them?

I saw a thread abouts the Boost 10 was it thats in Halfords for a tenner. I'm planning a trip to West Wales on Monday and seeing as I'm on 97k miles an this'll be the first proper run out with the car then I'm thinking of getting some.

Improving MPG would be nice but I'm more concerned about the claims of cleaning injectors etc. Do these additives actually do what they say on the tin ie are they worth buying ?

    Cheers

If you use them consistently, then yes you can notice a difference
If you are unsure of what the results will be, then use BP Ultimate Diesel for five full tanks, and compare
However, for the additional costs the overall results are negligible

If this is the cars first ever long run, I would be more concerned about oil condition and filter life
So long as these have been changed within the service schedule, then just drive the car as normal
As a long run at constant high speed the average MPG will be higher than normal

According to the service history it had an oil change last year

So the feeling then is don't bother and save my tenner?!

Cheers for the reply, just googled it and saw the diesel version is called BG244. The reviews seem to very positive and worth the money

Id use the additive personaly...and Id be at the least checking the oil level. .personally despite what a service book says I ALLWAYS do an oil n fillter change on a 'new' car for my own peace of mind.£30 well spent in my opinion.

I used to use Millers Sport 4 (Now Millers Diesel Power EcoMax) I would say, I never felt like it gave me more MPG but did give the feeling it ran a little better especially on start up, maybe it was the placebo effect... I suppose I would use again. On my old tired Cav 2litre, petrol, I found Protec 2000 was a very useful every 5th tank, this wasn't cheap back then, about £20 but felt like it worked wonders.
