Default Low pitch rumble from heater

    Hi,

I have ECC and noticed today, that a get a low pitch rumble whenever the fan is running AND the engine is running.

Engine off and ignition on I just get standard fan noise.

It's the same wether the fan is on 1 or 7, however it disappears at setting 0.

It's about the same volume as the engine on idle (2,8 V6), initially I actually thought it was the engine so I turned the radio and fans all the way down. It's only audible inside the cabin and I think it sounds louder because it resonates with something
I tried to record the sound with my phone, but it's too low pitch to get picked up.

Any ideas on what's wrong and how to fix it?

in that case, wouldn't the sound be there as well with the engine off? - I'm thinking it could be the compressor

Just had a thought. In the morning I'll see what happens if I disable the AC in the menu. If it stops, it must be the compressor

As I expected the noise stops if I turn AC off in the climate menu. Is that a new compressor?

I changed my pollen filter and the noise from the heater roughly halved. Hopefully this will help you.

hard to say without hearing it but it might well be normal , the engine note will change slightly when the compressor is running .

well, it's only audible from inside the cabin, but not at all on the outside. Could sound like a compressor running low on cooling agent - where is the compressor located and is there any way to check if it's running low or not? If so, is it possible to fill it up again?
