Default The rattle of the yellow screw holder

Well I’ve found the cause of a really annoying rattle in the passenger compartment near the base of the door. Every pothole or rough road and it was “rattle…. rattle…. rattle….”. I had the door panel off and the glove box out and I’ve found the source. It was a little yellow screw thread clip thing that the screw in the bottom left of the glove box screws into (does that make sense?). It rattles in its holder around like a pea in a drum. I’ve taken it out and all is fine. But why would it do this with the glove box in place? I think the rattle is amplified due to the glove box vibrating against the plastic shield in front of the relay box that is hidden to the left of the glove box. If you wiggle this it causes the yellow screw to dance around like a drunken loon!

Can I glue it back into place to stop it vibrating?

Narrowed my rattle down the the overhead console! I could've sworn it was coming from the passenger door though! Just goes to show! But i do think they rattle just a little too much!

Got to agree ... I hate rattles and my 03 pre-facelift Saloon had a fair few of them but my 55 facelift Hatch Back is a Bu99er ... lost count of the number of rattles and squeeks grrr

My front ashtray will rattle sometimes, more so if there is some small metalic object in it, the rattle does get on my nerves so I empty it and press the ashtray down firmly, now now rattle.
