Default not a vec but hope someone can help 1.8 astra sxi 2002

a friend of mine is having a problem with his astra hope you can help here is what ive been told.

1.8 six Astra 2002 when start it from cold keeps stalling like its not getting any fuel. Have to rev it loads to try and warm it up and when you finally get it running idle , you go to move and it kangaroos and stalls unless you give it loads of throttle. After a while its ok ish. Had diagnostic check and came back clear. Sounds like a fuel issue so they changed fuel pump but still like it. Spoke to someone else and they said maybe the fuel filter needs changing at the rear of the car by fuel tank .

    thanks in advance

Might be worth taking the throttle body off, cleaning the insides out and checking all breather holes are clear. Its quite easy to do and costs next to nothing. I used WD 40 to clean all the gunk off mine, others recommend carb cleaner.

sounds like a problem the father in law had with his omega and it was the maf sensor, even though it wasnt putting a fault code up, he unplugged it and ran the car and it ran fine (if a little lumpy), changed it and it ran perfect from then on

what happens if you unplug the maf?

the MAF measures the air going into the engine but ifthe sensor is goosed it gives the metioned symptoms as the ecu isnt getting the proper readings it needs to run the engine smoothly .HTH triple595
