    Default judder and powerloss

    Had a strange happenz yesterday, drove down to Nice at a steady 75 mph,car was giving 45 mpg, which is normal on a decent run, picked up other half from Nice airport, whilst driving back stopped for a coffee and restarted the trip. As i pulled on to motorway the car started to judder and lost power, no lights on dash, No acceleration after 1750 - 200 rpm oin any gear.

    At the time i was waiting for the other half to bring me the Air inlet pipe from the box to the front slam panel (mine got lost when i had the steering rack replaced). Finished the journey via other two stop offs and pick ups.
    Got home left car for 30 mins, replaced air inlet and changed the fuel filter, filled the filter housing with Forte, re started the car gave it a few revs and my god some black stuff came out of the exhausts, things alot better now.

    Will be taking it for a decent 75Km run tonight to get the engine throughly warmed through.

    Was wondering if excessivly high inlet air temperature might have effected the car, it was 17 degrees C, no idea what the temp in the engine bay would be.

    Anybody got some thoughts.

    Cheers Phil

    now for an update,
    as above changed fuel filter replaced air inlet wednesday afternoon, thurs and friday no problems but only short trips of 25Km, today had a longer trip of 60Km each way with some city driving thrown in for luck, problem back but not all the time.
    It feels like a sensor is breaking down under temperature but which one.
    Had SCV's changed 50K miles ago so should not be them, this afternoon removed and cleaned the Boost Sensor, it was covered in soot and slightly blocked, cleaned and put back, tomorrow will tell if it fixed, also whilst in bits checked vacuum pipes all seem ok, no smoke at all from the engine unless well reved whilst stationary and still no eml or car with spanner lights.
    fingers crossed for tomorrow.

    When this was completed, was the EMS updated on completion?
    If not, then the unknown fuel error will remain and you need Field Remedy 1957 to be applied

    However, it sounds to me like you are where I was about a year after the SCV were replaced and the boost control valve has now reached the end of its life
    Yet another sensor that doesn't give any warnings or indications until it finally fails totally

    Phil how much was the air inlet pipe? The one that goes into the bottom of the air filter box right?

    Mine has also vanished, did you notice much of a difference after fitting it back on? Mines been off a while.

    @john506
    Was £20 from ebay, yes stopped a resonance in the engine bay
    @m8internet
    Have been isoalting different sensors, by unplugging them reading the code and resetting the ECU, not exactly scientific but it works, so far done
    Boost actuator position sensor
    Boost pressure sensor
    will carry on after lunch, and the battery is fully charged
    @Celes

    Starting to agree that it is going to be the SCVs, so much for the improved version for Z30DT engine.

    Which gives me 2 problems first getting a set of SCV here in the South of France (ebay £200 + P+P) so problem solved, second finding a garage prepared to fit them.

    Will keep you posted

    Phil

    Had car in Opel dealer for diagnostics, no faults found and fuel pressure unchanged, not sure if the fuel pressure was checked with the car doing the problem, will have to find an independent who can read live data, when I am with them in the car, I am going to change the boost sensor when I can get one for less than 150 euros, which will take about a week.

    another update, found a place to read live data booked in for thursday, guess what, no problem the car performed as if was new, merde as they say here in france, friday morning same flying every where no hint of hesitation, As the valves are are in stock took the plunge and ordered a set of valves just in case, friday evening engine all over the place, hunting when idleing, juddering and all sorts so really glad the valves are on order, will be going back to the garage from thursday after the postie has been to book in next week for the valves to be changed.
