    Default Injector Copper Washer Question?

So... I resat them using the cutting tool, even threw in a smidge of gasket sealant for good measure and number 2 has started to bubble slightly again...

Has anyone tried non vauxhall washers, maybe of a slightly thicker size, like .5 or 1mm so they compress better?

Also this time just gone number 2 was completely caked in carbon, took ages to losen and move and was the only one where the clamp bar bolt came away from the head side... I wonder if crap got down the thread hole and its sat a tad higher, can anyone remember if there's a break in the thread on these bolts or are they threaded full length, pretty sure there's a break?

    Thanks

Everytime ive changed injector seals ive always changed the washers that sit on top of the clamp, there conical in shape and look like this

    Part number 93179049 x 4

These washers squash slightly once the nut is torqued down, and because the stud has a thread gap, the nut tends to reach the thread gap. Which then gives you a faulse torque and in turn causes the injector to leak.

As for using different washers id just stick with vx ones m8, they do the job well as long as everything else is good, ie the stud is screwed in fully and tight and also as above.

I cringe every time I hear people re-cutting thier injector seats because 99% of the time its not necessary.

    IMHO

    1. Injector seats need polishing to a highly smooth finish for a perfect seal.

    2. Injector seals should never have any form of sealant applied to them

    3. Fuel injectors reqiure specific tolerances in the combustion chamber any cutting/thicker washers/sealing compounds can compromise this.

Only recut this time as it was the 3rd attempt to rectify this... Never replaced the top washer, just the seals and new steel nuts, may have not torqued them up enough however... Actually just on with it now...
