P1625-58 Main Relay Opens Too Early

Hooked my car upto op-com today as the cra keeps cutting out on cold start up and after 4-5 times the spenner light comes on and the car goes into limp mode.Once the car has warmed up a bit i can switch off the engine and start up and everythings fine.

the code i got was:

P1628-85 Main Relay Opens Too Early

Can anybody help me out and point me in the right direction what to check and look out for?

Does the glow plug light come on and stay on for 10-15 seconds, before you try to start it?

yes sometimes id does do that but not all the time.I had 3 new plugs not long ago so i dont think its them.

What is the main relay anyway? been googling and it can be the ECU?

i meant to say that yes the light does come on but only after the car has cut out.before it cuts out the light comes on for a few second then goes out like it should....Ive also had the power steering light comes on after its cut out but that goes away when i restart the car

Also forgot to mention the car feels like a bag of spanners when its cold and kind of feels like its only running on 3 cylinders untill limp mode sets then then it starts and stays running albeit on limp mode untill the car warms up

Reviving an old thread here. but did you ever get a solution for this? Got this code myself this morning

First try should be to try check/changing K2 relay in UEC.
You can also check the contacts at the relay, UEC and ECU for corrosion.
If this not help you might have a faulty ECU or UEC.

Hi mate,
nope ive never got to the bottom of this after 4 years of owning the car :-(

Due to only having this problem when its cold it kind of slips my mind until the temp drops and it starts playing up again.I will however be investigating it further until I find out what the problem is

Just out of interest is it just the code your getting or is it all the other stuff that goes with it i.e cutting out,limp mode and dials not working?
