confused Smoke from bonnet, burning smell, but just once?

I have a 12 plate bi-turbo sport tourer with AFL Xenons and on a recent trip after returning home there was a bad burning smell and smoke coming from under the bonnet. I lifted the bonnet and the smoke stopped but still a slight burning smell, left the car alone and looked later and everything appeared fine. It has not done this since, has anyone else had this?

I also have a noisy rear passenger window that needs a new seal or something but Evans Halshaw say no, they can't hear it. I also get a range of small creaks but they seem different every time I drive, I like the drive and the seat is brilliant but not sure I entirely trust the car and would not want to own it out of warranty.

Could possibly be EGR cooler housing mate, thats what happened to mine, if you pop the bonnet and get someone to rev the car over 3000k revs it should squirt water over the exhaust manifold, its located left of the battery tray, fingers crossed its just that for you lol

I had something similar on an older Vectra it ended up being the air con pump that had seized. I would hope it wasn't that on such a new car but might be worth a look.

As tpj2012 writes above I think I have the same problem. Sat in Traffic at the weekend smoke started pouring out of the engine bay, the engine would not turn off when it normally does and the smoking lasted ten minutes, some chaps even came over to my car to suggest it was on fire. It then just stopped and was fine afterwards so I think the clamp near the turbo must be loose and a regen is pouring smoke into the engine bay, I am calling the local dealer to get them to fix it hopefully.

At the dealers right now, hopefully they will fix it and I can collect it later today.

Not getting it back today, dealers waiting for a new catalytic convertor and other parts so must be more of a problem than just the suspected loose clamp near the turbo.
