Default CDTi Oil and Filter service

    Hi guys,

My car is due a yearly service (although only covered 7k since last year) which is just the small service this time. I assume that's just oil and filter...anything else that should be done?

Now ECP have a deal on atm, 25% off oil, plus a free filter (hengst or guttmann) with 5l of triple QX! That means oil and filter comes to £17 which seems good imo!

Just wondering if that oil is ok, and its 5w40 yeah? Or if its cheaper at dealers? And do I have to change the sump plug or just the washer on these?

    Cheers
    Tom

the oil is 5w30 fully synthetic, I use the genuine parts at trade prices, oil, filter and sump plug washer change work out at around £25 inc VAT.

I find vx trade club prices are far cheaper than any of the factors an you have added bonus of genuine parts.

Its always good to check condition of other filters while your carrying out service.

I did sign up for the voucher, I didn't know I'd get a trade card as well!! If so, I'll wait for that to come (I assume it's posted to me?) and purchase dealer parts then.

Yeah I'll have a look around while I'm there. And as said above, didn't realise I'd get a trade so thats a bonus, as genuine parts should obviously be better.

Take a look at previous service to see which filters were replaced and then compare to service schedule
In general every service is Pollen Filter, every second service the Air Filter and Fuel Filter

You don't you get a Masterfit card not the same thing (see long thread on its issues). You need to be a full member of this website and pay membership including a Trade Card if you want one.

I use the 5w 40 triple qx from ecp with free filter and can recommend highly, mines high mileage though and changed every 6mnths. Very quiet and smooth running.

I'd love to, but there's (as yet) no option to sign up as anything other than an online member, with no trade card. I have the cash ready and waiting as well!!

It was a major service last time, all filters and cambelt etc, so just oil and filter this time I thought. Is the pollen filter really that often? On previous cars I've had its been two years like the air and fuel filters.
