    Default Strange Traction Control

Went to local stealers today to get traction control checked on 55 plate 2.2 sri, slightly confused now. Fitted traction control switch 6 weeks ago and didn't work stright away, half expected that though. Noticed last couple of days the car is slipping more than i would like so went to stealers, asked them to activate switcht with tech 2 while i was there. Two hours later and they said ecu could not be programed with switch. Would need to buy new ecu if i wanted to activate switch, sounds a bit odd to me considering all the info i have read on here about this. can anyone shed any light on this for me.

The TC switch is a hit or a miss, more likely to be a miss on later cars, though it switches the tc off, not on so shouldn`t make a difference with grip. It is a pre facelift you have is it, the facelifts don`t come with TC as standard ..

It has traction control on permenantly but they are unabled to configure it to be turned off, so to sum up, traction control is working but they cant do anything to turn it off. this does not resemble the threads i have read on here.

If you read the threads on here you will find it does, it is a hit or miss, some cars have the plug, some don`t, some work, some don`t ... you pays your money and you takes your chances *lol* not an exact science i`m afraid, but later cars are less likely to work ...

The plug was behind the blank and the switch lights up with lights on,also knew it might not work straight away but was under the impression it would only require tech 2 session to activate, although the stealer did say the techy had never done this before so not 100% sure it still cant be done.

No, as Bainie has said, it is hit and miss. 53/04 reg cars, pretty much all tend to work with the switch.

05 and 55 plate cars are full canbus and it would be more than likely that the switch won't work.

My 06 reg, does not even have traction control, and the TC switch which I fitted still lights up.

My 56 reg does have Traction control as I paid extra for it, but I've fitted the switch, and although it lighs up, it doesn't actually do anything.

It fills a space and looks pretty, don`t think I ever used mine in anger after I had fitted it anyway, so if it lights up and fills a blank it`s a bonus
