    Default Dashboard Dies

Hi, I have an intermittent problem where my dash dies - all the lights come on for a few seconds and then all the dials and lights go off. Things like the stereo, blower, indicators etc all still work, its just the dash. I either need to turn the ignition off/on OR opening a door also works to get everything back on.

    Any help gratefully received!

You could try replacing fuse 17 in the fusebox at the end of the dashboard (passenger side).

I had a similar problem where the 'door open' warning light was permanently on, even with doors shut and car locked. The dash died at the same time as the light coming on. Read on here about removing and cleaning fuses 17 and 26 on the passenger side fuse box. I removed them and cleaned them up with carb cleaner and wire wool (they did look dirty) and the problem was solved.

    Might be worth a try....

I was presuming you guys meant the fuse box in the engineer bay next to the battery? I don't have a fuse in #17 or #26?! I cleaned the ABS plug a couple of days ago now and although it didn't appear to be dirty, it hasn't happened since either :-)
    thanks guys

Well the problem continues - just started again the other day so I'll check those fuses next.
I don't think this is related but the engine is super sluggish off turbo and since yesterday the exhaust emissions light has been on so I might get a garage to check everything out.

Clean the plug/connection on the back of the CIM - very common.

Exactly the symptoms i had. Dials die then come back to life... a few weeks fine then happens again. Vx replaced CIM under warranty - but it kept happening. Cleaned the CIM plug and never saw the fault again.

There is a how to for all the suggestions above.
