Default Nokia universal phone holder removal

Right by the heater control for where I want the air to blow is a universal phone holder thats installed in between the trim and buttons. I've tried gently bending it but the plastic trim flexes and I don't want to snap it. This may sound like a daft question but how do I remove the blinking thing! It serves no purpose at all and gets in the way!

edit - realised this should be in the interior section but I can't see where to delete it ?

The heater panel just pops out... If you stick your fingers into the little pocket thing underneath the heater controls and pull forward, it'll unclip. You can then get your fingers under the heater control panel, which will also unclip. The phone holder will more than likely be screwed into the dash covered by the heater control, so just remove and chuck then clip everything else back in. 10 minutes max, if you stop for a cup of tea!

You need to remove some fittings which fortunately just "un clip".

Remove the ashtray and cover with cigarette lighter trim, then remove the cubby hole, next remove the heater control unit.

All these items are just clipped in, and with a little gentle persuasion will just come off and refit later.

After that you will probably see where the bracket has been screwed in and will be able to remove it.

You can slide a 10p coin on the side of the heater control and just pry it it will come off with no scratches or damage...

damn blanking plate that's in front of where the phone holder is won't come out, nor will the heater control / cubby hole! Am I not tugging it hard enough?!

I was tempted to pry the blanking plug with a small screw driver but didn't want to snap anything!

They're a pretty tight fit, but they should just pop out with a bit of pressure.

The blanking plugs should just slide out with a bit of persuasion, but be careful not to mark anything with a screwdriver. At least cover the blade end with some black tape first.

I use Bojo tools to dismantle dashboards, but for a one off it's a pointless expense.

Just a thought, and without seeing a photo, difficult to visualise, but I guess whoever fitted the bracket could have screwed through and into the blanking plate which would make removal pretty well impossible ?

Also, I found it fairly easy to remove the heater controls once the cubby was removed, and before I did that, I also had the ashtray surround removed but can't really comment on whether it was necessary, it just happened that way.

The cubby removal, try pushing your hand in, and then fingertip pressure tilt it upwards from the rear. Once the clip has released it is plain sailing.
