Default Parrot installed - no sound ?

Hi all, my Vectra came with a parrot installed. It powers up and connects to my iPhone but there is no sound. Making calls, streaming music - nothing. If I activate the voiced menus to rule out an issue with the iphone connection I still have nothing?

I'm guessing something has come astray but have no idea where to start??

Also I hear about upgrading the parrot software but I can't see a way of getting it out of the car? How do you update parrot software?!!

I'm not sure if your Parrot will be the same as mine, but updating the software requires that you download the update file from the Parrot website, save it to a USB Memory Stick and connect the stick to the parrot. Then select the file from the Parrot menu system

In the parrot menus is says:

    CK3100
    Version 4.16_C
    Display version 1.1

yes, radio sound is fine, just the parrot not giving me sound. When making a call it doesn't even mute the radio so its like its powering up but not speaking to the head unit?

CK3100 will accept an update by Bluetooth, have a look at this link: http://www.parrot.com/uk/support/par...00ck3300ck3500. It will require you to have a laptop with a supported Bluetooth stack (most of them will be using the Microsoft one, if your laptop has Bluetooth)

It doesn't support music streaming unfortunately, as it is a pure hands-free kit, not a music streaming kit. You'll need an MKi kit rather than a CK kit for that.

It should have a SOT lead connected to the back of the radio if it's been fitted the easy way, so it might be worth pulling the radio forward and seeing how it's plugged in. Some installers don't bother with a SOT lead, instead preferring to wire it in to it's own live and earth, and sometimes either break into a speaker or provide a third party one. I'd check it with an oldskool Nokia or similar first though, it might just be that your phone is too new to talk to the software on the device.

Ah poop, that's blown that idea! The Ck3100 is iPhone 4 compatible though according to that link, shame it won't stream my music

It is, for voice calls only though. Maybe yours has an older version software on it, it depends on how long it's been installed for.

I fitted a CK3100 for a lad I used to work with, and his refused to talk to a new Sony android phone, but it worked fine with his old Nokia brick phone.

It's also entirely possible that whoever has fitted yours has fitted an external speaker, and for whatever reason (being an utter arse, probably!) has removed it before getting shot of the car.

That's a good call, usual places are the footwells so I'll check tomorrow for tell tale signs of disturbance.
