Could be due to sudden acceleration up hill..... slooshed the oil to the rear of the sump away from the sensor..... was it the oil level warning or the oil pressure warning??

If it was the level sensor, get it booked in to have the sensor checked. As far as I know the sump's are baffled to stop cornering surges.... If the level is good then I think it must be electrical.

    Default Oil level warning light

I have an 08 1.8 with 35,000 miles. Today I was driving in heavy(ish) rain, and the oil level warning light came on. I pulled over, turned the engine off and on but it stayed on. I checked the level and it was just below max. When I restarted it was off and so far has stayed off. Could this just have been due to the rain getting in somewhere and/or could it be important?
