    Default Lexus bites the dust

Last monday when coming out of the estate where I live I found this.

    1.jpg3.jpg2.jpg

Stayed there for 3 days then was taken away.

Had a nose inside and the air bags did not deploy. Who ever was in there must have had quite a bump.

Not sure if it was boy racers or just a freak accident.

Im glad it happened sometime at night as loads of kids walk that way to school etc.

I keep looking at the local papers but not found out what went on.

The young kids do like the round about just in front of the estate. They do push it to their limits at times.

Seen a few drift it around in their hot hatches.

The paths were there when i moved in over 25 years ago and the trees were just saplings then. But now they push up the paths due to the roots. That's housing planning for you

Always think ahead i say. Still the kids like it as they can ramp it over the bumps on their push bikes

Not sure the guy was hurt. THe car folded and absorbed the shock energy. Now the tree didn't move nor fold, so, yes, it must have shaken a bit.

The aribags still probably need more intertia to deploy. The car probably didn't ride so fast, it's just not so sturdy...

My Fiat 127 was hit straight in the front by an Nissan (old fashion sturdy 4x4 pickup, that was 20 years ago) driving the wrong side of the road (and the 20 years old Fiat was a bit of an armored tank, too), but I got nothing else than a slight scratch in the forehead because of the mirror angle. My car was of course a wreck (the steel bonnet was folded and the carburator was properly decapitated ), and the Nissan was badly folded too.

At the time, seat belts weren't an obligation when driving in town here, so, yes, road security films showing people flying through the windshield are exaggerated. It would have been different with rigid chassis from the first half of the XXth century, though. In such a front crash, cars then went almost instantly from full speed to full stop, with no folding parts to absorb kinetic energy. In that case, yeah, it would have hurt badly.
