    Default radio/cd removal

Hi everyone. Trying to remove radio from 2003 Vectra C 2L diesel. Need to fit a panel adapter, as fitting a new radio/cd. Managed to unclip the front panel, but how is the radi/cd removed.Thanks...Colin

Regardless of whether you have a single or double DIN headunit, the removal is the same:

Unscrew any grubscrews that are fitted in the 4 small holes on either side of the front face (2 either side)..

Insert removal tools (different size depending on double or single DIN) until the click into place...

While pressing 'outwards' on the exposed 'loop' of both tools, pull them toward you and the unit will slide out. It will quite likely be quite stiff to move so may require more effort than you'd think.

As the headunit comes clear of the fascia, support it so it doesn't stress the wiring... unplug the aerial and plugs.

The early stuff will just pull straight out as the ISO plugs stay in the cage along with the aerial. You'll need a T20 driver or a 8mm socket to remove the cage once the radio is out, depending on what is fitted.

The early radios (4 digit ones) can be a royal pain to remove, so if you can't get it out with the release keys, try popping out the blank covers either side of it, and using the short end of an allen key, you can release the clips that way (it makes more sense looking at it than trying to explain!)

Remove the glovebox to give you some access to the rear of the deck, and you can gently pry it free with a wide flatblade screwdriver. Again, this is only if the release keys refuse to grip and pull the radio out for you.

If you can get the keys in place, then a gentle pry from the rear via the hole where the glovebox should be may also work.
