Default 3.2 exhaust - legalities advice please

hi all , im in line for a new set of back boxes - would love to be able to say im in the market for a stainless system but a cant afford it so want to know just a simple thing ...

do the rear silencers on the 3.2 do anything for the emmisions on the MOT legal side . im not concerned about the loudness i just want to know if i fit some aftermarket mufflers will it affect the emmisions :-)

ps i do not know of a pair of cherry bomb mufflers from my mates hotrod going 'cheap' :-) ;-)

The emissions ratings come from the EGR Valve and Catalytic Convertor
Provided these are in good condition the car will pass the Emissions Test

The centre section and back boxes provide noise reduction
With wear and tear the internal baffles fail, and it is this noise you hear

In short no, back boxes are mufflers. Its the cat's that control/reduce harmful emissions.

    NO:
They only Muffle the noise so as long as your cats are in place then you should have no issues with emissions, well as long as they are in good order.
