    Default Listen to this, what the hell is it?

    Hey all,

    Yet more problems with my Vectra! dare I say I kinda regret buying it now!

    Listen to these clips, any idea what it might be? If I rev the car in neautral, the noise occours as the revs drop again, it sounds awfull!!

    tick over is also noticeably louder again and theres a ticking on idle, and its WAY down on power! and it rattles like **** as you first pull away, once moving or cruising it sounds fine...

    I hate this car currently lol

    Youll need to turn your speakers up a fair bit, its recorded on my iphone from inside the car....

    Theres two clips that should play one after the other, one is today one is a few days ago! everytime I try to get someone to help me record it from the engine bay it wont make the ****ing noise lol

    hard to make out to be honest , just hear road noise ..

    Yeah it sounds terrible but there's no road noise I'm stationary on my drive on one and on a car park in another...

    It's like a metal rattling fart crush type noise as you come off the gas??

    You can hear it if you turn your speakers up enough!

    DMF possibly. Does having the clutch in affect it? Can hear it with the speakers turned up. If the turbo had failed (which is the only thing I can think of that would make a rattle like that) it wouldn't be running at all for very long and if it drives ok when you've pulled away and isn't smoking like mad, I'd put money on the DMF.

    It's not smoking... Well it does from cold on a cold day but that's pretty normal...

    It has got intermittent power issues though... One minute it's like a rocket and the next it hesitates and lags and has nothing....

    Either way it's expensive then....

    Is that just below say, 2500 RPM? Might be a sticky EGR. Unplug the EGR valve and go for a drive. Ignore the warning light - it'll go out when you plug it back in. Won't put you in limp mode either.

    They sound quite unrelated to be honest, just both come at the same time.

    Ill give it a go in the morning.... Sick to the back teeth of this car at the moment :-(

    i was gonna say inlet manifild , possibly swirl bar come loose and fallen off ? ..

    Had a new manifold and all associated parts a month ago.... So I hope not lol
