These mate.. I did this repair and my swirl flaps have been spot on for about 3 months now, remove swirl bar, clean up the pins on top of the flaps and check they're all moving freely.. Cut off the plastic ball joints off the bar and replace with the brass ball joints from this kit, stick the bar back on and push the brass ball joints onto the pins, once they're on they stay on.. Well worth trying before spending all doe ! Good luck.
Get the brass kit, come mine then we'll sort it Sat... That how 2 above looks the part, although I'll just take the fuel rail off ha...
I still think you should just jam them open! Lol
Ive orded the repair kit brass ones
Anyone suggest anyone that could blank mine off in herts or surrounding counties for a reasonable price?

Can they be blanked off tho without taking the car to bits as it's the time and cost in labour more than the cost of the new inlet
They can be glued open, i'm just worried about the flaps getting ingested plus the manifold could do with a good clean whilst off. Think vx time is 3 hours for this job so was hoping could get someone who knows what they're doing for a decent price
