is the judder about 1600-1700rpm? if so mine does the same..never figured mine out and no fault codes get stored..
there is a kit to remove the swirl flaps and you leave the motor connected to the plug how this affects power i havent a clue as yet but as i have a scrap manifold I am going to give it a try soon..
I did not notice any difference, although I was definitely loosing pressure from the worn bearings.
This is how it looks b4 and after... Just leave swirl motor in place...

@kingarthas where did you get the blanking kit from? I did a simolar thing to my 320d before and it worked a treat.
My swirl bar sits to the right 1o'clock position all the time wether the engines running, off or revving. They don't move at all. Are they stuck in the open or closed position? I'm suffering problems like hardly any boost and am running out of ideas and just checked these flaps. The manifold isn't even a year old, I dunno if this has always been like this since the garage fitted the manifold..
Thanks
Darrell
Sorry for delayed answer...
"or is that Swirl motor to left in place?" - YES it is. No need to touch. Leave the car think that it is all ok . If you have problem with motor itself then you should map it out. You can check my tunning guide in the tuning section.
I dont got any blanking kit. I got a turner friend, he got a workshop for fixing car engines. In fact many motor shops send engines to him for repair. Should have one like him in your place too . As per his words, his work cost about 20 euro. Removing manifold will cost you more.
In my case was really sad story, as my cooling pump stuck and broke the cam belt, rocker arms and valves. It cost me 450Euro to repair. And they return the car as it is on the first pic, w/o saying a word. Then the winter come and I was force to change the original (6 years old) glow plugs and I found the fallen swirl bar. Then I was forced to pay again for manifold removal. So i still swear those bast*ards that took 450E and did not said a word about the swirl.
flap removal blanking kit..As yet I havent bought a kit as not sure if it makes them worse to drive..from what i have read you loose a bit of low down torque.but a remap can cure that

With no swirl flaps, is that good for the engine, i suppose you'll have all sorts of **** going in there then...
Hi, just bought the de-flap kit and a new inlet gasket but someone mentioned online about a new pump but that needed to be fitted as they needed to remove it when fitting the kit, also is there anything else I need and what time if sealant do I need to crack open the manifold to clean it and put back together.
thanks
