Default clunky steering and car vibrating too

    hi guys.
1 : low speeds like coming off my driveway i get a clunking sound as i steer ???? really sort of 'twoingy' ish

    and 2:

when i get to about 50mph or higher the car seems to vibrate , like at night you can see the headlights shaking on the road - the only odd thing is that if i let off the throttle it goes away, put my foot down lightly and its there and if i floor it in 5th whilst im doing for instance 60mph its there fully shaking lol.
the car seems absolutely fine mechanically , all tyres are straight and balanced with same psi all round. the shaking doesnt come through the steering wheel but more through the actual car itself if that makes any sence ..

    anyone come accross this lol

Sounds like me at the min. Clunking when turning, could be the CV joint. Think my problem is the gearbox

If the sound you get is a "twoingy" as you say, then it say to me its a road spring broken, same thing happened on my sons SEAT Leon, and I have it now on the Veccy, new springs on order, will fit when SPRING actually arrives and temperatures rise.

Jack it up and sit it on axelstands and get someone to turn the steering from lock to lock while you look at the springs in turn, if it goes "twoingy" you will see it vibrate noticably.

I never heard of a CV joint failing and making a twoingy sound, usually more of a knock sound.

Or it could be the top strut bearing. One of mine is shot and I can't get it looked at by the garage until next Tuesday!! I'd do it myself but I just don't have the time and it isn't great weather to be handling cold spanners.

yeah my springs do move so new springs then , ive noticed on ebay lowing springs are only 80 quid for 45mm all round so might get them on the old girl :-) once thats done it will just be the vibration to look into unless it could also be the springs ??? hmmmmmmm :-)

Inner CV joints maybe? My first Veccy had similar symptoms and it was cured with new inner cv joints

With the car stationary and the engine running, rock the steering side to side slightly, does it make a noise then?
