Default VX CDC40 and VX SATNAV

Not sure if I should be starting a new thread but there are now some serious (for me at least!) issues arising from another one I started today but is not directly connected. Anyway here goes:

    VX CDC40 radio unit:
    1. All the ones I see on Ebay don't seem to have DAB. Was this an option?
    2. Is the DAB any good on the CDC40 anyway? I have heard they were not and VX withdrew them

    VX Built-in SatNav
    1. Apparantly they do not have full postcode search capability, is this correct, and does it depend on the year model of Vectra/Insignia?
    2. Again as per the CDC40, is the VX SatNav any good anyway or are you better with a TomTom?

The answers to these questions are going to have a big influence on my choice of replacement for my ageing Vectra 2.2 DTi, which has now 245000 on the clock on original clutch, battery and exhaust, not bad eh??

Vehicle : Vectra SRi 150 Hatch

    Mileage : 69'000

The CDC40 is DAB compatible so when buying make sure it comes with the DAB unit all from the same car as they are paired to the unit along with the screen. I find my DAB to be very good and I live out by the coast where normal FM reception can be very poor in areas.

Our works vectra pool car has the CD70 navi unit and I find it rather poor compared to my 5 year old TomTom, I can't really comment any more than this.

Great reply Nevo, just what I was after and confirms my suspicions following a bit of research! I reckon for what they cost now a new TomTom is a much better option than the VX one, and gives me more scope for adding DAB into a prospective replacement Siggy/Vectra. Cheers

AN AFTERTHOUGHT!! If you replace the original unit will the BC function still work from the column switch? My ok Veccy only had actual radio controls on the CD/radio unit, but later models have the "BC" and "setting" etc on the radio as well??

i have a navi its ok come up with all of the addresses ive put in so far but its a bit tricky sometimes without the postcode which is a bit anoying, but if u get a older map disc u can search post codes dunno what year tho.

Worst thing i have done is upgrade to the cd70 navi, radio reception well it doesnt really have one.. I have to listen to cd's they sometimes play a few songs then kick the cd out saying (invalid cd). I feel like pulling it out hitting it with a hammer and sticking it in the bin
