    Thumbs down Any Ideas?

    had a wierd experience today, my car is a sri cdti 150 automatic, today it misbehaved twice, basically when you try to pull out of somewhere ie petrol station on to A1, ya put ya foot down and nothing happens apart from creeping along as usual in drive with no accelerator applied.

    second time did it at a round about, put foot down and nothing, this time the spanner light came on.

    will call the local stealers in the morning to get it checked as im assuming its logged a code as it put the light on.

    just wondered if anyone had any ideas as to what is wrong, is it serious?

    it makes no difference if you foot is flat to the floor or not??.. i wonder if it's the 'fly by wire' throttle set up, either the pedal or the butterfly..

    with a code stored thou, it should be an easy diagnosis for them..

    Has turning the car off and on again sorted it for a while??..

    i didnt have to turn it off, it just seemed to have cleared it by depressing the pedal, first push nothing second push and we had action, was just reading a thread on auto boxes on the early vec's with my head in my hands but hopefully mine wont collapse anytime soon!

    it does sound more 'engine' than 'box' thou Rich, so i shouldn't worry too much.. it should hopefully just be a dodgy pedal switch..

    get them to take a look..it's all under warranty still, so VX are paying....

    I'd agree with you Mark, it'd most likely a glitch somewhere, now you have a code stored don't switch the engine on and off too much, it will lose the code after so many starts, go in the dealers and ask if they can have someone plug the mobile tech2 reader in just to recover the code for now.

    well its still doing it this morning so i have taken it to the stealers and left it there just waiting for the phone call!, it seems to me that the turbo doesnt kick in till around 3500 rpm where im sure it was available alot sooner before.

    That could be one of a few things.

    I wouldn't worry too much, it's warrenty and most likely a sensor playing up.

    and the diagnosis is.........................EGR Valve

    they aint got one in stock so will leave it with them, hopefully be all fixed tomorrow.

    WTF is an EGR valve anyway?!?!?!?!

    ah just read up on tinternet what the egr valve does, that will explain why it started idling a bit lumpy too then?
