    Question Retrofit - Paddleshift

As I've ordered an auto (sic) insignia.. I'm toying with the idea of "in the future" adding paddleshift. I've seen 3rd party ones that mount behind the steering wheel boss, and some that are more stealth and use wireless to change gear (just need 12v source in the steering wheel) but I guess the VXR has paddleshift on the autos, as the MY12 user manual shows paddles. Has anyone considered / investigated adding paddleshift to an auto? Once I have the guts to start taking the dash apart this'd be a viable idea.. anyone?

Think this would be very complicated to do. not entirely sure if its possible but i do know from the ones that have it is that you still get the shift denied message and it wont always change up when you want it too

Thanks Neverlandandy.. Figured as much.. though I do have a small habit of doing DIY jobs in cars, removing and rewiring the steering wheel with paddles is probably not the first mod I'll do! I was thinking of getting a wheel with paddles, figuring out the wiring circuit for the paddles, and making a loom to connect to the "manual" side of the auto box.. just tapping into the same connections. In theory it would be the same as the manual shift, but from the paddles. On the auto box it's weird how they have + change pushing away, and - change pulling towards the driver.. personally i'd have it the other way round.. .. maybe another mod..... !
