Default Good Berks garage needed - suspect I'll break down tomorrow

Good evening one and all - anyone know a reputable non VX garage in Berkshire - doesn't matter where or east Wiltshire I can have my car towed to if I break down tomorrow?

Came off the M4 tonight and hit the A road and whenever I accelerated the car juddered.

For the past year, it's been juddering intermittently in 6th when I've put my foot down at 2,000 rpm - it's like there's no power/acceleration and then suddently there it is, but with a jolt.

Tonight it was like it in every gear under acceleration and every few seconds up the rev range - fine at a steady speed, but lumpy acceleration. No problem while revving in neutral.

VX charged me £1400 for new DMF and clutch so praying it's not that, but suspect it might be. :-(

Any ideas what else it could be if not the DMF?

Well, I broke down this morning. Good news though! It wasn't the DMF

I knew it wasn't as soon as I hit the motorway as it stopped just doing it under load and start doing it continually so I pulled off into the services where it became undriveable. The AA came out and said I had a misfire. I thought "that will be cylinder number 3 then". He plugged in the machine and voila - P0203 - injection circuit no. 3. He removed the plug, which was dirty, cleaned it and tightened the connection bits, which seems to have fixed it for the time being. He's put it as a temporary repair so I need to get it done properly.

So - who's done the wiring mod to cylinder 3, how easy/difficult is it and how much should it cost?

    Cheers!

Its about £17 IIRC and it comes in a kit with the plug and wires.

Just need to cut the 2 original wires and solder the new ones together onto the old ones.

Iis it just vauxhall that sells this and had this problem or do fiat and Alfa also have this kit and mod? Phone VX and they wanted £50/£60 for the kit and £192 labour. The thieving tykes! I should be covered by my AA repair cover so it should only cost me £35 to have someone else do it for me, but VX are fully booked to 4th April - obviosuly busy robbing people some I'm wondering whether to go to Alfa or any other garage in the Bracknell area.

    Its a very simple job:

The Kit shoudl be less than £20 unless something drastic has changed since I did one about 3 months ago.

Picked the part up this afternoon - caused some confusion first as the no. in the article is not the same as the number in the photo so I was originally asking for a battery for a Vauxhall Astra! When I realised the mistake it cost me £11.80 with my masterfit 25% discount so that will be a job for the weekend. Cheers for the help as per usual!
