Default Does the second half of the tank burn through quickly for anyone else??

Just a general query more than anything else really, but has anyone noticed their fuel gauge takes forever to get to 1/2 tank from above half, but once it dips below 1/2 tank, it seems to fly round to empty?

I was fractionally over half a tank today, have done maybe about 10 miles (lying ******* range gauge agrees with me, as does the odometer) but it's dropped by 1/8th of a tank, and is currently sitting on 3/8ths full (or half way between a 1/4 and 1/2 tank).

I've not noticed any leaks or anything, and there's certainly no smell of diesel hanging around but it seems to really suck down fuel once that 1/2 tank threshold has been passed.

Anyone else see this or is it (yet) another thing that needs fixing?!?

Yeah it does drop quick. Notice that if you park with your left wheels lower than your right side your petrol goes up, and if you park with your right wheels lower than left wheels your petrol drops!

That's actually a perfect explanation of what happened when I 'ran out' of fuel last week! I was parked pointing down hill, on a camber that had the right wheels lower than the left, and it registered 0 miles range, flatlined the fuel gauge and wouldn't start!

There's no way that 5 litres would equate to 1/8th of a tank, but by the time I got it going and got to the petrol station, that's what the gauge was registering, so there must have been a fair bit still in there... Empty? Pah!!

Yeah I always park on the left. I had 22 miles left till empty and parked on the right the car won't start.

fuel gauges are not very accurate, the best way to know if you have a problem is to fill up to the brim, reset your meter to zero and then work out how many miles per litre/gallon once you come to refill again, anything above 44 mpg (depending on how heavy your right foot is) is about right.

I'm only getting 37ish to the gallon at the minute, a shagged thermostat isn't helping matters as the engine never gets up to temp. Also, as soon as I get paid I'll be changing the fuel filter and sticking in a new air filter, as well as getting onto the garage to get my thermostat done under warranty.

Also, when I get paid I think I'll swallow some brave pills and brim it, by my calcs though, it'll cost in the region of about £90 from empty? (assuming just under 1.50/litre)

I have a 2.2 direct and tbh I dive slow and I am always looking at my mpg and fuel gauge. I find mine is very accurate and goes down evenly.
