Its not really worth upgrading speaker's without amping them really, have you thought about adding some soundeading to the door panels?
No didn't think about doing that, have you?
Ive now got the wiring in place and a amp ready to fit just need some spare pins for the plugs on the doors or could use whats there but wanted to keep the dash speaker.
I have but only to the inside skin, as I have made my own door pods.
What do you need spare pins for? I and a few other members have drilled out spare pin spaces and added our own speaker cables for the new speaker's ( which is a must if adding aftermarket speakers amped). I also till recently kept the dash speaker (just left it wired from the hu).
As you are amping them ( 1st post contradicts the 3rd post) i think some people have brought the pioneer speakers that are a straight swap.

What's your budget ?
if your not amping the speakers ideally you want a speaker that has a high sensitivity (90ish db)
I wanted spare pins so i can keep it more like factory if poss, should be ok getting my hands on some with a bit of luck. Will be running all new wires from the Amp to the speakers.
Can go up to £100 max and will prob use the Amp now?
OEM speakers are really OK (of course not the top of the crowd, but very correct). They just need a proper amplification. Your radio is the culprit here. Poor quality integrated amplifiers, as in almost any car stereo, BTW.
The things to do to improve audio quality are first of all adding an external amplifier and sound deadening.
Changing the speakers is just bells and whistles, unless you've also changed your car stereo with a high end one and fitted high quality amplifiers, so you'd actually be able to hear any difference ! And then, you concern will be speakers orientation and time alignment, rather than just what brand you'll need...
