Default Very sadly the Vectra is going

well after three years of almost totally faultless motoring and some 60,000 miles I am trading the Vectra.

I was offered £2790 for her against my new car (pics once the deal is all finalised)

I was in a real quandry over the Insignia as I have read so much about ultra low mileage failures of the DMF and EGR cooler problems plus rather poor economy returns that I made the choice to go German, proper.

I have put a deposit on a BMW 520d a manual car very highly spec'd up with full "option" leather bamboo wood style trim Nav, xenon's upgrade alloys factory privacy glass CD changer upgrade, voicecontrol option.

I had a drive in her yesterday and was smitten immediately. The OBC is showing 58.7mpg reset 1100 miles ago so economy is outstanding
Refinement was un-real, almost silent on the motorway very smooth indeed handling is crisp assured and fresh.

It is with a genuine sense of real sadness that the Vectra will leave me when I collect the Bimmer (in April due to my impending work and then holiday commitments) as she has been a constant companion and faithful friend through really harsh times.

I will stick around for a wee while if I'm wanted though

    Cheers
    Derek

Thanks Gary I will, I was so conflicted as all along I had believed I'd just add an Insignia to the household fleet but, after thinking about a "me" car and a sensible option the list became predictable and bavarian germanic. I have a long history with Bimmers but had no experience of the newer ones. The drive yesterday was decisive mate, it's in another league.

Good choice of new car Derek, what age and Mileage is your Vectra? Just curious as I'm trading in my Vectra on wed and got 3k + for it against a insignia tourer, mine is on 67k and a petrol turbo so not a bad deal I thought.! Ha

Anyways, good health to enjoy the new car bud ;-)

    Thanks Steven,

She is an Oct 2007 on a 57 plate now sitting on 85,500 miles but traded with an assumed 87,000 when I hand her back. I found WhatCar values were almost spot on the money on both my Vectra and the new car.

Sorry to hear you are selling the Vec Derek. Never took you for a BMW driver though, always thought you were a decent chap. LOL. Enjoy the new one.

Hi John, I was really thinking E class but the W212 was just too expensive with decent miles, I did revert to my old ways though as I am a long term BMW owner having has three 7 series cars two V12's one straight 6 and the car when I saw it just suddenly grabbed me.

For me cars will "talk" to me even though this one doesn't have many of the external gizmo's of the M-sport it caught me and inside of 5 minutes I just had the feeling that was the one,,,,
The rest as they say,,,, is history.
