I come back from working away next week so we asked the kids what they wanted to do in their week off as I will have them. Surfing they replied.
So we booked a week over Easter at Croyde Bay in January to fit in with the daughters exams and her mum wanting to take her away and my boys mum
Daughter then tells me last week can't make it as she has a ticket for One Direction (Who she now hates) but has to go as she can't let her mate down. I said what about letting me down? The whole holiday was arranged around you! I get the "I know dad but I paid £30 for this ticket and can't let my friend down" Hmmmm I paid £700 for the accomodation but you can let me down and I have not seen you for 5 weeks......thats a 15 year old lol
Then my son says "Dad do I have to go?" I say to him I thought you wanted to go? I get the frank reply "I'm only going cos you told me I had to!" Silence then I replied yes you are damn well going after spending £350 on a new surfboard and wetsuit you wanted and you both asking to go surfing. He then replies ok just if I stay at home with mum I won't have to get up and can lay in bed on the Xbox all day.
I suddenly realised my son would rather spend a week on an X Box rather then experience the real world and my daughter has got to an age where friends are more important then her old dad
I've been made redundant by my own kids!
