    Default 3.2 v6 GSI

Hi all, i have now been a proud owner of an 2003 GSI for 5 months and i just have a question really.

The first thing i noticed is how slow it is compared to my expectations. First ever Vauxhall and not particularly a car tech spec king, but i guess its the nooby mistake of seeing the "3.2 v6!!" and expecting a monster. A family car so not as bothered as i would have been 10 years ago but when im on my own i do drive a little faster. An old focus ST left me, a Starlet left me and an MG ZR (gotta have been the 1.8)

But again, 3.2 v6! i thought id be leaving everyone in my wake lol

Am i missing something or is this car really just that slow? i swear my dad's 2.0 Focus ghia feels faster.

Got it booked in for a full service and MOT end of the month maybe that will make a difference....

The 3.2 is 220bhp so If its feeling slow sounds like something is not right.

I wasnt really expecting a car in the leagues of evo, impreza, etc etc... but seeing the engine i honestly thought it would be no match for cars such as focus st, golf gti, corsa sri... the type of cars you see the 18yr olds flying around in.

Local vauxhall garage sniggered at me about the GSI saying i fell for it and that its just too heavy.

and the morning that toyota starlet (think its toyota), left me i was gobsmacked, the same guys in the vauxhall garage laughed and said its turbo'd and wieghs less than my dashboard

I'd agree..(though it's bhp is more around the 208 mark standard)...I've kept up with all sorts (though is slightly tuned).

the 3.2 is about top end speed ..it will keep getting faster and faster ...as the vx guy its to heavy to be burning cars up half its weight from starts .

I think your car's ****ed then if you can't keep up with a ZR 1.8 which has a book 0-60 of 7.4 vs yours of 7.0. You'd not be much ahead but you should be ahead...

Keeping my fingers crossed for the full service which will hopefully clean out some cobwebs. Dont get me wrong its not slow at all but i think Soulman put it better, its like a public bus from starts against the small nippy corsa's,golfs,etc... but on motorway im quite happy keeping up with the bmw's.

The Starlet was churning along at 30mph, i knew what he was planning due to a country lane coming up so i got ready by dropping gear but when he dropped gear he vanished, couldnt keep up.

Isnt the 1.8 ZR the vvti one? which is 160bhp? that with its weight against my 208bhp with its weight surely would win me?

On a brighter note, the fuel consumption is brilliant for the engine size, roughly the same as my dads 2.0 focus.

My gsi had great pickup from stand still but mine is mapped plus mine needs a full service I should have done that before the rolling road day.
