I've seen a few posts on here asking "what do I need to upgrade my OE radio", so I thought I'd put this together to act as a bit of a parts reference to upgrade your radio from OE to aftermarket.
Please note:
I strongly suggest that you confirm the part numbers listed with a good car audio shop before ordering. If I've got it wrong, I can't take any responsibility for anything that happens to your car or any money you lose by not being able to refund the parts ordered. I've done this to the best of my ability and as such it has been put together as a guide, but not an instruction. I repeat, check out the details with a good car audio shop BEFORE ordering.
So, what do you do with it? It's all down to what you're fitting really.
If you have a single DIN radio, choose the Single DIN fascia column for your fascia panel. If you have a Double DIN radio, choose the Double DIN column. You need either or, not both!
If you aren't bothered about the steering wheel controls working, choose the Standard ISO column. However, if you do want your steering wheel controls working, choose the SWC ISO column. Again, you need either or, not both!
It is worth highlighting here, that if you want to retain BC control on a 2 digit radio (CD30/40 etc) you will need to order a SWC ISO and patch. Without it, you will not be able to control the BC.
If you choose to have steering wheel controls, then go to the relevant colour coded box to order the relevant patch lead for your radio. If it isn't listed, then I couldn't find a patch control to work with your chosen manufacturer. You need to order both the SWC ISO and the relevant patch lead. This is also dependent on your chosen radio having the option to work for steering wheel controls.
The aerial adaptor is to convert from the standard VX one to the general 'pokey-in' type of aftermarket radio. Some radios (Alpine, Blaupunkt) don't need this. It's up to you to check that out.
Any queries or concerns, feel free to post or drop me a PM!
