Default Vectra 1.9Cdti Problem - Not running smoothly

    Hi,

I'm sorry if i'm posting something that's already answered but I've been digging around for a week and need some help!

Last Friday my car started loosing revs and was not accelerating smoothly. Sometimes it would pick up in higher revs but sometimes not.

I did a bit of searching and thought it might be the EGR valve. So i tried cleaning it but I don't think I did a good job so there was no difference. My next step was to make a blanking plate. I fitted this and the car was great! No spanner light on the dash and car was running smoothly again. But yesterday the problem returned. I really don't know why. I've had what I think is the emissions light on the dash since I put the blanking plate on. But I wasn't initially worried about it because it was running okay.

As an extra note I had the inlet manifold replaced in August because the swirl flaps were messed up.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks

it could be a number of things but the most likely is EGR or boost sensor. The EGR needs to bee cleaned properly and by this i meen taken apart, drilled and the center solanoid knocked out and cleaned and greased.I did this a few times on mine but i did eventualy end up buying a new one.

Boost sensor or MAP sensor as its known as aswell aslo needs cleaning from time to time.

If youve had a new manafold then i would definatly get the EGR sorted as it can cause your manafold to fail again if it gets sotted up again

    Thanks for the reply.

I don't think it is the EGR at fault anymore because this is now blanked off.

I had a look at injector number 3 plug and cleaned this up a bit, this didn't help at all.

So after the test drive I cleaned it up a bit more and changed the 2 vacuum pipes. I couldn't see any visible splits but when I was looking there was a small air leak where the longer pipe joined into a rubber adapter. I cut this section out and forced the pipe over where it was originally connected at it all seems to be pretty good now. I think its possible the seal between the rubber adapter and the pipe was crap and it wasn't holding the air pressure.

I've ordered some proper 4mm tubing from ebay to do the job properly now though.

You could just do this using the thicker C shaped rubber tube, bypass the need for the pipe that splits regularly...
