    Default MOT & Service Report

Had my MOT and Service this weekend.....91,000miles on the clock now!

MOT failed only on both rear number plate lights out (which seems to happen a lot - me thinks maybe a connection rather than the bulb!?)....so chuffed with that...

    Service brought up the following...

    Required Fuel Treatment (£20)
    Wheel Balancing (£18)
Pollen Filter (£30) - which I told them not to do cos i dont care and dont have hayfever!

and that was it.....however, all in all still cost over £200.......

On the Pollen Filter - do i need a clean one? and if so, can i buy and fit one easily?

    Ta

Vauxhall Pollen filters are less than £10 from the parts department. So £30 is very steep.

If the car was serviced first then it shouldn't have failed on the bulbs. Part of any Vx service is to check all lights!!!. I had this on my last vec CDX and told the garage if anything needs replacing as part of the service then do it as it's off for an MOT. Tookit off to the council MOT garage(cheaper) and it failed on the number plate lights. It wasn't the bulbs it was the light unit it's self and the garage didn't pick it up. I changed them, cost me about £10 and creted merry hell with the garage and they gave me a refund on the service and my next full service FOC. That will teach them to take short cuts, I saved over £300.

Jon, it's a doddle to fit them, there's even a 'how-2' written by some dodgy geezer....

A tenner will see the job done...and yes, i'd change it, it makes the heater blower demist the screen so much more quicker as it can flow morw air... you'd not run the car with a clogged air filter on the engine would you??..

Should always use a pollen filter anyway, or risk the debris that it stops getting into the fan.

Re the pollen filter matey, change it yourself as the dirtier it gets the more condensation you get in your car and the harder it is to clear.
