When static I turn the sterring wheel and i hear a strange sound from front, only can hear it inside the car, tried listening from outside but cant hear anything!! What should I be checking for please? Cheers

Hi, does it sound like a spring clunking as i've got that noise coming from the front of my vectra.
not sure, i can only hear it inside
get someone to turn steering while holding a front spring , that might help narrow it down :-)
what is the common problem?
could be a broken spring (visual required) or top bearing collapsed (you will feel this when turning)
Mine is making all sorts of noises too. Has been for yonks now.For various reasons, I haven't fixed it yet. Indecision on how to proceed, basically. But I'd agree with the above; it's probably the springs or strut mounts/bearings. Mind needs mounts/bearings and ARB bushes too.
