    Default Astra twintop 2.0

Well i popped int om y local dealer today just to see what they had and they had this

    http://www.wilsons.co.uk/all-used-ca...-Astra-Twintop

Full imrscher kit with vxr gearknob and steering wheel, sat nav and full leather.
Took it for a spin and does it go, especially with the sport button. They offered me 6500 for my st and this astra is up at 6k so with the tax (which is 460) id have to pay nowt. Its only done 30k and drove superb.Thats the good points.

Now the bad, the electrics were knackered on the drivers side for the mirrors and roof etc but it did have a flat battery so not sure if this is related but didnt get to try the roof .Its also had 5 owners. Il be fair though he took it straight into the workshop after and said it will come with a years mot and also extended warranty for 4 years if i choose at 800 quid which i thought is good (200 quid a year) not bad atall. Also found it was quite cramped in the back, i know its a coupe but for a big car i would have thought it would be a bit better, still toying with a vxr but i must say i was pleasantly surprised, fairly rare car with the irmscher kit etc, went round the car and no major dents or dinks anywhere but seriously 460 tax?????WTF
I am tempted as its a cracking car but 5 owners???? I dont know plus the cramped rear, fair enough the only person who would be behind is my 6 year old daughter so not a major problem but the vxr is more of a family car but the ****** dealer pentagon will only offer 6k for mine, obviously dont want a massive difference but at the end of the day its still going to be a good profit on mine.Grr

Just spent most of today detailing one of these at work , they are renown for leaking like a sive especially the back around the sliding roof hatch the boot if you can call it that is basically a portable paddling pool..
If your going ahead make sure the drain tubes are not blocked up and ensure the electric s at the rear all work as this is also a known problem with them

Well the electrics wouldnt work so couldnt test the roof, they were sorting out as we left though, still not sure what to, it is a nice motor but think i prefer this

They will only give me 6k for my st which im a bit annoyed about, got the other dealer who quoted 6500 to write it down with his card attached to prove ive been offered that to go to pentagon to see if it will increase, or i can ask for a fuel fill up and tax for a year which equates to roughly the same give or take, what do you reckon?

Yeah that was a big worry, nice car but the electrics is probably why they keep selling it lol, was hoping they would just buy my car so i could walk into pentagon with the cash and walk out with the vxr but they wouldnt take it unless it was px.

we have an astra twintop mate and tbh we have had issues with the roof, its had new seals all round and still leaks, though to be fair,we have had four convertibles now,the twintop,a astra mk4 convertible,a volswagen eos and tbh the best of the lot was our first one ,a renault megane convertible with fabric roof, can honestly say tgis one never leaked a drop as it had fabric one peice roof,it was an 02 plate old shape version ,would still have had it if it hadnt very sadly got written off! to be fair the twintop is a no bad car but our 1.8 vvti has been reliable enough but had its share of faults,we nearly bought the 2.0 turbo one but opted for eos as it was much nicer quality inside but sadly it didnt live up to the hype and was worst of the lot,the five owner thibg doesnt really bode well as i know convertibles change hands quite often but the fact its got probs on the forecourt suggests thats why its been traded in,tbh when we come to get rid of ours i doubt it will be replaced by another convertible, hth mate

Yeah thanks mate, it was lovely to drive but obviously 5 owners and dodgy electrics isnt a good sign,my mrs said that if i buy it il onloy want a vxr in 6 months once the excitement of this has worn off so thats what im sticking to, now just need to renegotiate and see if they will beat there last offer. If i get the vxr i can stop going on about it to the mrs, im driving her mad with it lol
