Default which is faster top end,150cdti facelift or 150cdti pre facelift?

I've never had the chance to check out my pre facelift top end, one of my mates with a 150 cdti sxi reckons 140mph (ish)

Now got a facelift and just wanted to know if anyone has had one at full pelt

I've heard about the changes in chassis, steering and emmision reducing measures so I'd imagine this effects the cars overall performance against the pre facelift model.

I think this sounds about right as I topped my old golf tdi 150 out at 145mph (at my favorite track...lol ) very scary drive

Vx figures state 135mph (130 estate) for both pre-facelift and facelift.

Facelift looks more aerodynamic, might just pip it even though Vx doesn't claim it.

That's the thing though, looks can be deceiving!

It's exactly the same shape as the pre-facelift, bar a bit of reshaping on the front end. That's not really going to make an impact on the top speed - and I'm sure if VX could've rung a few mpg more out of the facelift in the testing they would've, but I guess they couldn't as they are basically the same car.

Don't forget, what it says on the speedo is not necessarily correct. Speedos tend to get less accurate at higher speeds.

I'm sure the cars going over to Irmscher Germany will be able to answer this question after the trip.

My car does 70mph no problem

The face lift is, according to Vx figures 0-60 0.1 slower.
    Preface - 8.8s
    Facelift - 8.9s

Dunno why that is and dunno why they didnt leave them the same.
