    Default Noisy Back End

    Hi,

    Got a cheap 05 pre facelift Vectra 1.9 CDTI 150, and encountered problems with it, as expected with the value i paid. Engine ones are complete or in process of being dealt with now its time to address the others, which i wish people can help me.

    I have a noise coming from the back end, I would describe it thudding/banging/like a spare wheel in the boot banging about on the metal bottom.

    Of course i have emptied boot, checked exhaust.

    I jacked up and found that rear left brake caliper is ceased. I spin the wheel and it stops within 2 seconds.

    Also noticed both tyres, have inside wear.

    Mainly the noise is at slow speeds, not neccesarily over bumps. I go on a 30mph road for example and not a noise to be heard.

    No whirring sounds, like bearings...

    Any ideas etc

    Cheers in advance

    I had that problem.mine was a easy cheap fix. the boot hatch was bouncing up and down. at higher speed the wind presses down on it keeping it closed. if you lift the hatch you will see a couple of plastic stops that can be adjusted. I just loosened the locking mech, shut the boot then reopened and locked them off.

    i actually thought that at first. but one person sat inside and one person closed boot, then tried to move it up and down to see if made noise, but seems not.

    Im guessing with the wear of tyres its related

    update: on you tube there was a guide to check for movement etc;

    * Told whilst car on floor, to hold the top of the tyre and move back and forth.

    What i found was the rear left side, had movement back and forth, enough and i could hear a noise. Sounds like the one.

    Would this be the banana, upper control arm
