    Default headlight question

Hi guys, its been a while but ive found this site to always be a great source of help when needed so thanks in advance.
My question is this, the missus car (facelift SRI) has a dodgy indicator on the passenger side. the bulb housing is knackered and the contacts aren't allighned properly, think its been off before and damaged, so sometimes it makes contact and its fine but go over a bump and its off again, ive had the headlight out and tried my best but tbh im looking to get a replacement and be done with it. if i were to get a used one and say the level was off as in different to the drivers side setting, will it auto correct or set back to default when fitted into the wifes car?
    cheers
    Rob

No, a replacement headlight will need re-aligning.

You could take a measurement of the existing headlight beam by parking at a set distance from a wall / fence / garage door and drawing where the horizontal beam is and the exact place where it kicks up, then fit the replacement headlight and check/adjust it to the markings on the wall / fence etc.

Ultimately though, it would be better to put it on an MOT beam tester.

Is the indicator bulb holder not at fault, recently had replacement lights and the holders were terrible, they were a poor fit and required some adjustment of the prongs (tech term) to make fit so they would work 100%. Does the other side one work fine (to test the theory)?

its exactly that Dan, although not a replacement light, its the orig one, the indicator went off so i thought it needed changed, took it out and it was fine. when replacing the holder i noticed the prongs were bad so tried to fix them but like i said, sometimes they make contact and sometimes they dont. there not the best.
so been looking for replacement holder

The replacement headlight shouldn't be that far out. You might be lucky and it will be spot on.

Ah right, cool.... I just thought a replacement headlight was a bit much when it "could" be the holder itself.

I had the same problem with my car and it had arc'd that many times there was a small hole through the contact on the bulb holder. Fitted a new one and it's been fine since

thats what im guessing is gonna happen with this one, im busy trying to get one for 30 quid from a local seller so if i can get it then its worth it imo, nothing worse than turning left with no front indicator...
