Morning all.
Been pondering one of these:

Apparantly they flow pretty well but how well does a mesh filter actually filter? Don't want to knacker my injectors with dust.

Thats something like what i have on mine but mine is in a kinda cone shape its been on since i bought it so wouldn't know the difference plus mine is a v6 petrol so no injectors.
Just looks like a cheaper version if the BMC-CDA ones, should be fine...
Yeah they have a plate stamped on the front saying CDA and look slightly bigger then the one above.
Thanks going to have a look around mine see if its got anything on it.
It's the size of a fist and a stainless plate so you won't have missed it, its on the top facing up
Theres mixed reviews on these tho, know Dan who had my CDTI loved his and said he'd have another, I took it off as prefer standard boxes and performance panel filters, not fussed on induction noise, I passed it on to Andy off he and he hated it, said car felt sluggish when warm...
BMC CDA is cotton filter though - this is stainless and from what I can tell stainless flows well but the filtration is really bad.
I've just been pondering intake cos I've got a K&N panel in now and apart from the danger of oil on the MAF or idle valves if you compare a k&n with a standard paper the paper filter has a much bigger surface area - the pleats are twice as long, so does the k&n really flow better? I only do 8 or 9k a year and I change filters every year so they never get that dirty. So I wonder if I'm actually better off with just the genuine VX paper filter?
Think Andy still has it mate...
