    Default VXR Turbo

I believe some places have been swapping the Vectra VXR turbo for the Insignia VXR turbo to give a minimal gain in power for a huge cost. I have read that Klasen motors have a GT3076 conversion available for the Insignia which would presumably fit the Vectra. I can't see it on their site at the moment but if anyone is considering a turbo upgrade in the future, that would be a much better option that the KKK unit.

They also have Sachs Organic clutchs rated to 570NM (417lbft) or sinter disc versions rated to 675Nm (494lbft) though these are not direct fit for the Vectra but can be adapted.

    Any interest?

What sort of difference does updated turbo give? Would it not be more laggy

It depends : some recent Insignias now feature a dual turbo.

However, the ECU will need a remap to benefit form the new turbo. As I can't remap, the tweakings I'm trying have limited effects (though they still have some. Getting the best from the existing hardware is actually satisfying enough).

The KKK units die off around 5000rpm, with boost falling rapidly. A GT3076 would be able to give more boost that the KKK unit from the moment it hit full boost to the top of your rev range. I would expect a turbo of that size in a 2.8ltr to be on full boost before 3000rpm. I am not aware of any Bi-Turbo petrols from Vx at present, so I'm not sure of the point of that comment? As with any modification you need to reprogram the car to make use of it, that is why I said for those looking to upgrade the turbo as you would have to reprogram for an Insignia VXR turbo too. I'm not sure you read the whole post there Z80.

You're right, not for petrol, actually.

Anyway, most turbos feature an exhaust gaz intake matching specifically the engine exhaust manifold.

Do Insignias share some common engines with the Vectra VXR ?

I believe so as they use the insignia turbo as a straight swap

Looks like they actually just put a similar, if not the same, 2.8 T engine in the Insignia... I don't know why I thought it was larger, actually.

The Insignia weights 1.9 tons and has an integral 4x4 transmission, but its engines provides 355 bhp vs 280 for the Veccy... Is the turbo (and of course the mapping) the only difference on this engine ?

    Nope, Insignia VXR is 325bhp.

They uprated the turbos but not enough as it is only kicking 116bhp/ltr at 325bhp, which is under what my diesel runs at the road wheels let alone the fly. With a decent turbo that thing should be up around 400bhp, after all the 2.0T runs 280bhp.
