Default Z19DT 1.9 120 Slow to Start and lumpy APART from when CTS is disconnected

Would it be tooeasy to think that changing my Coolant Temperature Sensor would fix the issue?

Usually, when cold, it cranks for a few seconds before just about firing andthen chugging for a minute or so.

If I disconnect the CTS it fires immediately and is has a much better idle.

Is it simply a CTS giving an iffy signal when plugged in or does disconnectingit actually do something else downstream that is actually fixing the problem?

    Thanks in advance

Dont know if this could be related but yesterday I found that the electrical connection on an injector was broken giving a rough start up and running as tho it was on 3 cylinders now its back on four and running fine, now know why I bought my Siggy

Disconnecting the coolant sensor makes the ECU think the temperature is lower and powers the glowplugs for longer thats why it starts easier.

It could well be a faulty CTS, sounds similar to a problem I once had with a petrol lump, replacing the CTS did cure the problem but they were known for failing..

I had a similar problem on our high mileage vectra z19dt. Even with new CTS it was still hard to start in cool weather. In the end I altered the map for fuel during cranking and it cured the problem. Others have said a new start motor fixes it.
