Default Vectra C Ignition Switch Help Please!!

I have bin having an annoying problem for months now with my car when i take my key out the ignition the cd player stays on and you have to push the big round button to turn it off also the warning buzzer comes on when i open the door as if my headlights are still on and also the central locking does not work i was told this could all be related to the ignition switch as it could be faulty and the ignition thinks the key is still in therfore causing these problems. It would really be appreciated if some one could shed light on this and has anyone ever replaced the ognition switch as i cant find any info on it atall. I have had all the plastics behind the steering wheel tryin to find it but had no joy. Thanks

Could be ignition barrel worn, could also be a CIM fault.

Would help to know the model, stereo type, mileage/age, etc. (Helps people get an idea of the general vehicle condition).

Have you tried a few squirts of WD or similar deep into the lock mech ?

First thing to try is to pull the battery for 15 to 30 minutes.
    Force a module reboot.

It could well be a faulty ignition key barrel fault, or a CIM fault.. but it could also be a module hiccup.
These happen all too easily on Vectra-C's.

You will struggle to dismantle the ignition barrel out of the back of the CIM module.
The plastic casings are a ****** to separate.

Once you have done this, there is a 2 pin pick-up ring and a 7 pin ignition barrel connector to unplug.

Rebuilding is a bit tricky, as you will need to fit the clock spring correctly and may also need to recallibrate the steering angle etc..after refitting the CIM module.

Is your stereo set to work with ignition logic, or via the on off button ? Set it to off if having turned it off, you want it to stay off, unless that is you have other ignition switching problems.

    Good luck fella

Hi did you get to the bottom of the problem? I'm getting the same problem, remove key from ignition and still getting the ding ding ding noise, also CD player stays on, interiour lights don't come on, Central locking don't work on the key have to use the door locks

basically the ignition thinks the key is still in and we get the ding ding ding noise because it thinks your gonna leave your keys behind lol

pain in the ass ain't it ggrrrrrrr :-/

Mine is doing a similar thing, seems to tally with the first drive on a cold morning. My thoughts are that a relay is sticking, is there a relay under the bonnet switched by key position 2?

Has anyone had any success with rectifying this fault? My 03 GSi in Australia has done exactly the same thing and fails to switch everything off 80% of the time unless I pry on the key entry slot and jiggle it. Central locking won't work whenever this happens too and I'm greeted by the immobilizer every time I go to start the car. I'm not mad after 370,000km but the more I know about the issue the better when I get it diagnosed.
