    Default Corsa c.. Any experience?

    Hey all

I'm lookin for a second car for the mrs when I find a job and I don't want to give up the vec so we have settled on finding her a corsa c...

She wants black with alloys so don't know what trim levels to look for?

Does anyone have any experience with the corsa c? Anything to look out for? Any engines to avoid?

Ideal world I'd like to get her a 1.3 cdti coz there so cheap to run! What are these like in the real world?

Cheers for any help or advice :-)

I have looked after my sisters 2001 Corsa C 1.2 until shetraded it in for a Corsa D, she kept it 10 years with no real problems apartfrom the central locking failing on passenger door / fuel flap and a bad waterleak. The water leak is a common problem caused by the bulkhead seal around thepedal box mounting plate failing with age and the water soaks the drivers sidecarpet. This can be fixed but its a lengthy job to strip the pedal box andbrake servo out, my neighbours 55 reg car has also had the same fault.

So definitely view on a rainy day to check carpets for dampness before committing then!

She just likes them! And I can't come up with anything better for around 1500-2000 for her...

Ill do anything to keep hold of my vectra lol

Not much wrong with them, but I found the 1.3 completely gutless. Had one as a courtesy car a few times, ended up worse on fuel. Probably coz I ended up driving the nuts off it just to get anywhere. 1.9tdi Seat Ibiza would be my choice. We also had a 1.5 Clio. It was the 86bhp one. It was really cheap to run, plus £20 tax. Never had anything go wrong, but it is French......

Yeah she loves clio's but she had a 1.4 alize on a t plate and it was constantly broken and cost £100s in repairs! If the 1.5 dci is reliable she would be over the moon with one!

I like the Ibiza but they seem to be over budget :-( especially around here lol we had a beetle with the 100pd in it and it was bullet proof!! Never ran properly but always ran lol

    I had a corsa c 1.2 sxi (53 reg) before the vectra.

Avoid "design, life etc models" Stick to an sxi 1.2 or sri 1.8.

I found it to be pretty gutless, but reliable none the less. had it for a year, covered 25K miles in it, just changed the tyres, and maf sensor.

get one with a good service history, irregular oil changes can lead the the timing chain sounding like a tractor.

My son has a facelift (05 reg) 1.3 CDTi SXi and its a great little car.

Returns 50 mpg all day long (Higher on long runs) and is a nippy car with 69 bhp (1.2 has 75bhp or 80 bhp) but the diesel drives better and quicker through the gears but its no sports car lol.

If power is what you want you can map them or box them too

    I would recommend one
